Hidden Message Candle Shopping List:
Glass Jars – of course any size jar can be used for this DIY or even a store bought candle however this size fit the look and shape for the message I wanted to white
Candle Wax – a 5 pound bag perfectly filled twelve of the twelve oz jars I ordered
Gather the materials needed to hand pour your candles, I chose these 12 oz jars because the width and depth was perfect for the message I wanted to write, I also loved how they are clear with the silver top. Next I added my wicks and measured the candle wax, any microwavable dish can be used to melt the wax however this measuring cup was perfect for pouring.
Heat the wax in the microwave (you can also double boil on the stove but I find the microwave faster/easier). Next poured 3/4 of the jar of the melted wax. Remember you are going to be adding beads and another small layer of wax so make sure to leave room for that. Next I added my essential oil of choice to the candle and let them cool. The candles cool and turn white in 2-3 hours, basically you want the top layer to be hard so that you can lay the beads in evenly.
Next I used a pair of tweezers to add the message to my candle! Get creative here!
The next step is to pour an even thin layer of wax over the beads. The beads may move slightly while you are pouring the wax into the candle, this is OK- just use your tweezers to reposition the beads before the candle starts to solidify. The thickness of the layer should be just enough to cover the beads, this way the person lighting the candle will need to melt the candle for a minimal amount of time. The thicker the layer- the longer the candle will need to burn for the message to appear- this is a personal choice.
Light your match & candle!! Your hidden candle message will appear in 1-2 hours 🙂
